Alaska Has Shaped Me
For 45 years, I’ve lived in a small town on an island in Southeast Alaska. Step beyond Sitka, and the world changes. No sign of man. Mountains rise on every side. Salt rides the wind, mingling with the scent of moss, ferns, and towering trees.
This place has shaped me. The tides, the seasons, the vastness of nature—it teaches in quiet ways. Wisdom comes from living alongside it for so long. Photographing this raw, untamed land has humbled me. Sunlight pierces the forest canopy as the varied thrush sings. Tiny bubbles break the ocean’s surface as humpback whales weave their bubble-net of life. In the night a brown bear’s teeth click in the darkness you realize you are not the top of the food chain here. The setting sun ignites a whale’s spout, turning water into fire. Let me share my vision with the world at is't absolute best.
